Guided tour of the “Sperone” district/VISITA GUIDATA AL QUARTIERE SPERONE

On 18th of April the students of the class 2N, with Mrs. Laura Messina, took part to a guided walking tour of the Sperone district organized by the local association SPERONE167. It was not a simple tour among the wallpaintings but also an opportunity to share a beautiful experience. This day made us realize the right importance to give to a place often considered on the margins of the city. The tour guides did so using an easily understandable language to tell us a different story about this district. Many people think that Sperone neighbourhood needs care and attention, and this way it could become an attractive “art place” and a tourist destination that could arouse curiosity.   Giorno 18 Aprile gli allievi della 2°N, accompagnati dalla professoressa Laura Messina, hanno partecipato a una visita guidata del quartiere Sperone organizzata dall’alleanza creativa SPERONE167. Non è stato un semplice giro turistico tra i murales ma anche un’opportunità per condividere una bella esperienza. Questa giornata ci ha fatto realizzare la giusta importanza da dare a un posto spesso considerato ai margini della città. Le guide ci hanno permesso di capirlo anche grazie all’utilizzo di un linguaggio facilmente comprensibile, al fine di diffondere una narrazione differente sul territorio. Molte persone abbracciano l’idea che lo Sperone abbia bisogno di cura ed attenzione, e così facendo potrebbe diventare un attraente “luogo artistico” e una meta turistica in grado di accendere la bellezza del territorio e di suscitare curiosità.
In the Sperone neighborhood, among other wallpaintings there is also that of Biagio Conte, a tribute to his death which occurred a few months before. Biagio Conte is known for having helped many poor people by opening the mission of "Speranza e Carità'', dedicating all his life to people in need. murales Sperone Nel quartiere Sperone, tra gli altri, c’è anche il murales di Biagio Conte, omaggio alla sua morte avvenuta pochi mesi prima. Biagio Conte è conosciuto per aver aiutato molte persone povere aprendo la Missione “Speranza e Carità” e dedicando tutta la sua vita ai più bisognosi. Questo murales è stato voluto dal parroco Don Ugo Di Marzo.
This wall painting shows two children screaming. They address people passing by the street saying “no to war”. It can be interpreted in different ways, for example no to racism. murales Sperone Questo murales mostra due bambini che urlano. Si rivolgono ai passanti esclamando “no alla guerra” e inneggiando alla pace.

Può essere interpretato in modi diversi, per esempio no al razzismo.
The mural "La ragazza del futuro" (The girl from the future) created by Giulio Rosk in the Sperone district, as part of the "I Wish" project by Cesare Cremonini, is among the 7 most beautiful murals in Italy. It shows a little girl, whose face is half-painted in red to reject violence. This wallpainting represents Gaia, a 7 year old girl from the “Sperone” who attends the “Pertini school”. The message she wants to pass on, through music, is aimed at the younger generations who live in very difficult situations. This work was begun the day after a tragedy that hit the neighborhood: the death of Katia, a 15 year old girl who died in her sleep.
There’s also a message against violence, represented by the half-red, half-normal face of the little girl.		 murales Sperone Il murales “La ragazza del futuro” realizzato da Giulio Rosk nel quartiere Sperone, all’interno del progetto “Io Vorrei” di Cesare Cremonini, è tra i 7 murales più belli d’Italia. Il messaggio che vuole trasmettere Cremonini, attraverso la musica, è indirizzato alle generazioni più giovani che vivono in situazioni difficili. Mostra una ragazzina, Gaia, di 7 anni, con la faccia dipinta per metà di rosso come segno di rifiuto della violenza. Gaia è una ragazza del quartiere Sperone che frequenta la scuola Pertini. Questo lavoro è stato cominciato il giorno dopo una tragedia che ha colpito il quartiere: la morte di Katia, una ragazza di 15 anni morta nel sonno.
IO SONO TE (I am you) in the Sperone district. This mural was painted to denounce violence against children. Behind the child you can see a shadow shaped as a cross; it could remind us of Jesus Christ, so of all people suffering because of injustice. murales Sperone “Io sono te” nel quartiere Sperone nasce un altro murales stavolta contro la violenza sui bambini. Dietro la figura si vede un’ombra a forma di croce; potrebbe ricordarci Gesù Cristo e quindi tutte le persone morte a causa di ingiustizie. Il murales raffigura quindi un bambino povero proveniente da un quartiere popolare, con l’ombra che rappresenta la figura di Cristo. Vuole trasmettere un messaggio di uguaglianza nell’umanità attraverso l’iscrizione “IO SONO TE”: siamo tutti uguali, non importa la condizione economica, il colore della pelle, la religione o l’orientamento sessuale.
On the 22th october 2022 the sixth wallpainting in the Sperone neighborhood was unveiled. It is a work by Medianeras, two Argentinians female street artists.
A peculiar feature of the work is that it was not given a title. The wall painting represents a figure with two faces and her arms crossed in sign of rebellion against social convention and in favour of LGBTQ+ community's rights.
This means the freedom to show yourself as you are.

È un lavoro delle Medianeras, due artiste di strada argentine.
Una particolarità del lavoro è che non è stato dato un titolo.
La pittura murale rappresenta una figura con due facce e con le braccia incrociate in segno di rivolta contro le convenzioni sociali e in favore dei diritti della comunità LGBTQ+. Ciò significa la libertà di mostrarti come sei.
The mural of the seagull conveys a message of freedom. In addition to the drawing of the seagull the artist has decided to write two very significant words: “ABBI CURA” (TAKE CARE). This means that all of us must not only take care of ourselves but also of the people more in need. murales Sperone Il murales del gabbiano trasmette un messaggio di libertà. In aggiunta al disegno del gabbiano gli street artists hanno deciso di scrivere due parole molto significative: “ABBI CURA”. Questa frase vuole signifcare che non dobbiamo solo avere cura di noi stessi, ma anche della gente più bisognosa.
A mural entitled "Breastfeeding is a welcoming community", which represents a mother breastfeeding her child.
Palermo municipality has drawn up a special project "Breastfeeding is a welcoming community", also known as “Sangu e Latti".
This is to focus attention on children from the moment of birth, giving even more importance to simple and natural things, such as breastfeeding.		 murales Sperone Un murales dal titolo “Allattamento è comunità accogliente”, che rappresenta una mamma che allatta il suo bambino.

Denominato “Sangu e latti”, il comune ha redatto un apposito progetto noto come “Allattamento è comunità accogliente”, anche conosciuto come “Sangu e Latti”.

È stato fatto per focalizzare l’attenzione sui bambini già dal momento della nascita, dando ancora più importanza a cose semplici e naturali, come l’allattamento al seno.
